-  Lisa's Additional Research Notes  -

If you are a first-time visitor, all of the introductory information will be new to you.
Please read each of the four informational pages
before you view  'Lisa's Additional Research Notes' -
you will thank yourself later for having done so!

  Introductory Information . . . .

The section called  'Lisa's Additional Research Notes'  within my web site  'South Ronaldsay and Burray 1821 Census Project'  is in part derived from my transcriptions of scanned images of a transcript of the original enumeration document of the South Ronaldsay, Burray, Swona and Pentland Skerries 1821 Census, used by permission of Dave Annal.  This early transcript, which is the only original representative document of this particular 1821 Census known to be in existence, is currently in the possession of Alex T. Annal, of South Ronaldsay, Orkney  --  (see this off-site link:  Article by Dave Annal regarding this 1821 Census).

'Lisa's Additional Research Notes'  portrays my transcription and slight reformatting of this 1821 Census document, with a large amount of my own research work from the Old Parish Registers and the Statutory Registers of births, marriages, and deaths for South Ronaldsay, Burray, Swona and the Pentland Skerries, inserted into the various Census Households shown within the 1821 Census document.
As a result of this new combination of information, my presentation of  'Lisa's Additional Research Notes'  within
the  'South Ronaldsay and Burray 1821 Census Project'  web site is essentially a new unique document, and
is  © Lisa Conrad, 2004-2019.

'Lisa's Additional Research Notes'  only shows Old Parish Register information and Statutory Register information that I had available to me at the time, or managed to remember to look up in the Registers while researching other information.  It was my intent to include within the  'Lisa's Additional Research Notes'  section only data that I had gleaned from any original source material which I had personally viewed for myself.  If you find a lack of a full set of birth, marriage, or death register data, or if you find no additional notes at all, near an individual's entry within a Census Household, it is probably because I have not as yet viewed for myself, with my own eyes, the applicable original source data in the Old Parish Registers or Statutory Registers of births, marriages, and deaths for South Ronaldsay and Burray.

I DO NOT include any information from the IGI, or "International Genealogical Index" -
(the IGI is not original source material but rather transcriptions done by many volunteers).

I do include some notes, theories, and questions from either myself or other researchers near many entries, but it will be obvious to you that they are my notes only, and not quoted directly from the Registers -- (see lower half of this page:  Abbreviations & Other Editorial Marks).

Any insertions of register information, notes, or interconnections between Census Households, if any are made or mentioned, are presented as results of my own research and are not necessarily claimed by the General Register Office for Scotland or by the Annal family.

You may yourself have much more information on certain South Ronaldsay families than is found here on my web site - I can only offer up what I have come across in my own research.
Being only one of many South Ronaldsay researchers, I would welcome any other leads!
As I find time and energy, I may be adding even more Additional Research Notes.
